After spending the week with my family in Seaside, we hit the road. The first day took us down Highway 101 to Coos Bay, Oregon. We stopped at the Tillamook Cheese Factory. Mostly for Lucy and her LOVE of cheese. However she wasn't in the mood to get her picture taken.

She didn't want to be in the picture, but she didn't quite want to leave either. Little did she know how much driving she had ahead of her.Our next big stop on the first day was the Sea Lion Caves in Bandon, OR. Lucy was sleeping for this stop so I took the other 3 to check it out. We decided it was best to let her sleep for fear that we'd have a little monster on our hands if we woke her.
Sam was really into seeing the lighthouses along the way. This is the picture of the Bandon lighthouse that we took from the inside of the cave. After the elevator ride that takes you 200 ft down into the cave.
Back into daylight-bright!
sea lions on the beach
The kids thought this was a great stop. The sea lions were loud and smelly. We got here just when the sun was starting to come out and it was beautiful. The first part of the day was socked in fog. We kept saying, "I bet this is gorgeous", but we couldn't even see the water in a lot of places. Once the sun was out though the rest of the drive that day was incredible. We stopped for the day in Coos Bay. We had fish and chips on the pier, explored the town a little and then to the hotel for the night. No pool this night, just cartoons and games. Day 2...California here we come...
