Last Friday we (Sam, Will, Sydney and I) packed in the car with Noah, Anya and Eli and headed to Winthrop for the weekend. It was a family camping trip with my mom's side. A sort of reunion I guess you could say. We used to camp with this side of the family every year growing up. Back then it was always the Cultus Lake Thousand Trails. This year we invaded the Wintrop KOA. Can I just say that we had SO much fun! We do wish Mitch had been there with us though, the boys really wanted to float the river with him, maybe next time it will work for him to come. The 7 of us all stayed in the same tent, packed like sardines. Our motto: What happens in the tent stays in the tent...or not when you have 4, 7, and 8 year old boys making up songs about it all!
My dad had just flown in from a business trip in Texas at midnight Thursday night. He was tired, oh so very tired. He was questioning why he decided to come when I found him in the cabin pouting. Yep, sitting on the bench truly pouting. "Where's the TV?" "Where's the bathroom?" "Where's my chair?" "I want to go home!"
The boys became explorers of the wild wild west.

We roasted lots of marshmallows, or burned most of them rather. Nothing beats a s'more though does it?

Sam blowing out the flames, that's the way he likes them.

Sydney was obsessed with the "boy and the girl" in the playground. She always wanted to go stand by them. She just thought it was so funny.
Yep, this is in the playground! The boys wanted to know where the rest of her clothes were! There was a wild fire burning across the river and further east. This meant that we lost power from Friday night until Saturday evening. Will happened to be in the bathroom when the power went out. This took him a little by surprise. You should have seen the look on his face when he walked out. This meant no water too. For the rest of Friday night they were flushing the toilets with buckets of water. Things were getting a little interesting. Saturday the pool was closed because of the situation so they said the banana bikes were free for the day.

Saturday we floated down the river twice starting at the big red barn when you come into Winthrop and ending at the campground. We were a big group! Anya and I rode in a raft with the kids. Everyone else had tubes. Half of the group decided to keep floating when we got to the campground. They were gone a little longer than they anticipated. They couldn't find a spot to get out of the river and 4 hours later they called and were ready to be picked up. We were so glad we got out at the campground with the kids.

We ended the trip with ice cream on our way out of town.
