A week ago we spent the day at the La Conner Thousand Trails with Mitch's parents and his great Aunts and Uncles. It was a beautiful day....hot not much breeze...but beautiful. They were staying in a cute little cabin overlooking the water. The kids had fun playing on the beach and playing cribbage. A few years ago Mitch and Sam went to the State basketball tournament and stayed with Uncle Wilbur and Aunt Margaret. On that trip Wilbur taught Sam to play cribbage, a pretty complicated game I think. Sam was hooked, so when he heard we were going to see Uncle Wilbur he put cribbage in the car before he even got dressed for church. It had been a long time since he played so he needed a refresher course, but they had so much fun. Mitch's great Aunts and Uncles are just a hoot, so so much fun!
Great Uncle Alfred reminds me the most of Grandma Alberta, he has her smile. Grandma loved when her siblings came to visit from "down the valley". She always had so many stories to share about her siblings and just loved to tell them, precious memories. In many ways I feel like I know them more than many of my own relatives. It is always a treat and a pleasure to spend time with these Great Uncles and Aunts...all around a nice Sunday afternoon.
